EAA Foundation Recognised by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Qatar’s Rawda Award for Social Impact for its Together Project
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, honoured Education Above All (EAA) Foundation at the inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work in the Non-profit Organisations category for its Together Project through Assalam Schools, an acknowledgement that reflects the growing national importance of inclusive education in Qatar.
The recognition highlights EAA Foundation’s contribution to expanding inclusive, flexible, and high-quality learning pathways for students whose educational journeys may be affected by social, economic, or academic challenges. Launched in Qatar in 2017, the Together Project has grown into a network of five Assalam Schools, which have supported more than 24,000 students of diverse nationalities since inception.
Mr. Mohammed Saad Al-Kubaisi, CEO of Education Above All Foundation, said, “This recognition matters because it reflects what Assalam Schools have made possible for thousands of students across Qatar, a pathway back to learning, renewed confidence, and a future that feels open again. For many children and families, the impact is not abstract — it is felt in the classroom, in the home, and in the sense that education is once again within reach.”
“We are grateful to Qatar’s leadership, to the Ministry of Social Development and Family, to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and to our partners for helping make this impact possible.”
Assalam Schools were established to provide inclusive and flexible learning pathways for students in need of supportive education models that respond to diverse learning needs. In addition to academic learning, the schools provide integrated health and psychological support, alongside programmes designed to strengthen learning outcomes and help bridge educational gaps.
The schools also represent an important national contribution to supporting students whose continuity in education may be affected by a range of circumstances. Through monitoring, follow-up, and coordination with relevant government entities, the Together Project has helped strengthen the national response for identifying and supporting children who are not formally registered in schools, including through the establishment of a national platform to track such cases and support their enrolment through appropriate and flexible education pathways.
The Assalam Schools were established in response to the increasing number of vulnerable children in Qatar, particularly those facing significant barriers to formal school enrolment. These challenges include reaching children who are not officially registered in the education system, as well as those who have exceeded the official age for grade enrollment or are affected by economic hardship.
Since their inception, the schools have served more than 24,000 students from diverse nationalities. In addition to academic education, the Assalam Schools provide students with health and psychological support, as well as non-traditional learning programs designed to enhance learning outcomes and bridge existing educational gaps.
While this recognition highlights EAA Foundation’s impact in Qatar through the Together Project and Assalam Schools, it also reflects the Foundation’s wider global mission, through which it has supported millions of children and youth and advanced access to education and opportunity in more than 75 countries world-wide.
This recognition underscores the role of partnership in advancing equitable access to education in Qatar. EAA Foundation delivers the Together Project in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with support from partners including Qatar Charity, the General Directorate of Endowments under Awqaf, AFIF Charity, the Social and Sports Contribution Fund, Hamad medical corporation, and University of Doha for Science and Technology.
