Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Pilot Digital School Program in India

Pratham and EAA came together in November 2019 to design a model for implementation that is learner driven, context specific, and combines the highlights of the Pratham’s Second Chance program, Hybrid Learning Initiatives with the design principles of Digital School Program (DSP). The Second Chance program uses innovative teaching methods, to provide accessible and affordable learning opportunities very close to where the students live. The objective of both SCP and DSP is to provide academic and personal support needed to enable the out of school learners to appear for their Secondary School Examination (Grade 10) and expand reach to numerous out-of-school learners, and simultaneously supporting the “at-risk” learners to reach their potential. The learner experience is shown below:

DSP learner experiences

DSP has been piloted in India and has reached 2200+ children and youth, and has reached an additional 1500 learners in its second phase. DSP in India has supported learners in becoming literate with an observed growth of 35%. The illiteracy rate among learners in the India pilot dropped from 78% to 43% in the span of a few months under this program.
