Reach Out To Asia Win AFC Dream Asia Award
Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) has won this year’s edition of the AFC Dream Asia Award in recognition of its contribution to social development.
ROTA worked side-by-side with the AFC’s social development arm, Dream Asia, in organizing the School Challenge, a football-based youth empowerment program, on the sidelines of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 finals in January.
FIFA Vice President and Chairman of the AFC Social Responsibility Committee HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein presented the prestigious accolade to ROTA Director Essa Al Mannai.
“We feel delighted and honored to be given this recognition by the AFC which shows that we have been successful in our endeavors in football so far,” said Al Mannai.
"While ROTA has been doing its work for 6 years, its’ involvement in football-related empowerment activities is only two years old but this award shows what we can do greater things if we give it our all”
The AFC Dream Asia Award, which was introduced in 2010 and first bestowed upon the Football Federation of Australia, highlights the value of football as a tool for social change and emphasizes the importance of social responsibility by featuring those individuals, corporations and NGOs who play an important role in promoting the culture of giving.
