EAA strongly condemns the appalling attack on students and teachers in Niger state, Nigeria

Calendar icon
Education Above All (EAA) Foundation strongly condemns the deadly attack and subsequent abduction of students and teachers, and issues an urgent plea to the international community to unite to protect education from attack and hold perpetrators responsible.

Today, at least one student was reported to have been killed during an attack by armed men on a secondary school in Niger state, Nigeria, which resulted in the abduction of hundreds of students and several teachers.

Tragically, this attack is not an exception – only a couple of months ago 344 students were abducted from their school in Nigeria’s northwestern Katsina state.

EAA renews its call on the international community to unite to protect education, students, teachers and their communities, in Nigeria and beyond.

In September 2020, EAA launched the #UniteToProtect campaign to create global awareness of the need to protect education, and guarantee the right to safe, quality education for every child.
