Literacy and Numeracy for Youth Project (LNY)
This program aims to build functional skills in reading, writing and numeracy in Arabic and English for out-of-school youth in Qatar who are 15 to 19 years old. The design of this project is based on the idea of relying more on self-study within peer groups using digital learning resources accessed through tablets versus attending a classroom with a teacher. This programme can be considered an academic bridge that qualifies young people to complete their basic or vocational education to become productive and active individuals capable of making a positive change in their community. To achieve this goal, the program will focus on:
- Developing functional skills in reading, writing and numeracy, and preparing learners after completing this project (for two years) to join a vocational education program or to continue their formal education (if possible).
- Helping learners to enhance their 21st-century skills and life skills to be more ready to participate as active members of society.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation for this pilot project to develop an effective blended learning model
