Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

New Education Above All Website Promotes Global Cause of Empowerment through Education

Site supports organisation’s call for global collaboration on education to transform lives and economies

Education Above All Foundation (EAA), a global initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, has launched a new website to highlight its vision to support progress and development through education. The site also provides the international community with resources to stand with EAA in the movement for education for all by uniting, empowering and funding education.

Educationaboveall.org features stories, testimonials, images and videos that highlight the critical role of education in helping build prosperity, peace and support sustainable development.

Working in many capacities - from advocacy to implementation to research - the three main programmes operating under the EAA umbrella are:

Educate A Child (EAC): a global programme aiming to significantly reduce the numbers of out of school children (OOSC). EAC collaborates with local, national, regional and international partners across 24 countries to help ensure that every child has access to a quality primary education.

Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC): a policy, research and advocacy organisation that protects and promotes the right to education in times of insecurity and conflict. By uniting and supporting partners in education, international law and child protection, PEIC is working to minimise the harm caused by insecurity.

Al Fakhoora: named after a United Nations school in a refugee camp that was attacked by Israeli tank shells in 2009, Al Fakhoora secures access to education for young people in Gaza and the West Bank. The programme aims to bring marginalised youth new opportunities through scholarships and training, improved healthcare and reconstruction.

Deputy CEO of Education Above All Foundation, Fahad Al-Sulaiti, said: “We have developed the website as a means to achieve the goal of ensuring education receives the priority it requires as an essential part of development. In addition to describing the EAA programmes, the information contained on the site will help raise awareness of the value of education, and inspire collective action to support wealth and well-being in developing and emerging countries.”

The website has been created by the Full Service Digital Native Agency Emakina in Brussels, Belgium.

The website shows country-by-country statistics of the children who are being deprived an education due to reasons such as poverty, crisis, war, natural disaster and discrimination. The achievements of the EAA programmes are inspiring individuals, organisations and governments to stand together and bring about positive change.
