Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Calendar icon 19 - 28 September 2013
The ROTA Volunteer Program will coordinate an international volunteer trip for 24 adult professionals from Qatar Foundation, Vodafone Qatar and ROTA’s own Volunteer Database from 19-28 September to support a ROTA Project in Nepal that supports the role of schools in Disaster Risk Reduction.

Dates: 19 Sep 2013 - 28 Sep 2013

The ROTA Volunteer Program will coordinate an international volunteer trip for 24 adult professionals from Qatar Foundation, Vodafone Qatar and ROTA’s own Volunteer Database from 19-28 September to support a ROTA Project in Nepal that supports the role of schools in Disaster Risk Reduction. Vodafone Qatar will sponsor the trip by covering local project costs (computers, stationary, learning materials etc.).

Volunteers will facilitate classes for children with the assistance of local translators. There will be around 6 contact work hours per day, after which there will be organized cultural activities focussed on team building and getting to know the local community and the environment in which they live. Volunteers will collectively develop the school program in a series of Orientation Sessions in the month preceding the trip.

The ROTA Volunteer Program has been taking volunteers from secondary schools and universities as well as adult professionals on life-changing experiences to countries around Asia for eight years to support projects that further ROTA’s mission of providing high quality and relevant primary and secondary education, encouraging relationships among communities, creating safe learning environments and restoring education in crisis affected areas across Asia and around the world.
